Predominately settled by Germans, Peaselburg is nestled against the slopes of the Buena Vista hills. The neighborhood has an attractive early twentieth century housing stock. Prior to World War I, Peaseburg was an independent community whose town hall was located at 21st and Russell Streets. St. Augustine Church on 19th Street was built circa 1915 and is an outstanding example of Romanesque architecture. This stable family-oriented neighborhood has two elementary schools, several churches, and is conveniently located near shopping facilities.
